Spring in Your Step Green Smoothie

Well, Hello there!
I’ve been off the radar lately doing all things Spring, like a “Lisa Kondo” version of getting my home cleaned and cleared of clutter and now it’s extending into my morning routine which I think is a natural extension of clearing the home as I see it, but more on that later.
So if you know me you know that for the best Clean & Lean nourishment and blood sugar balancing, I’m a huge advocate for a high protein, low glycemic smoothie that really is a perfectly balanced meal. Those are fabulous! But in between and in the early Spring I start craving a smart aleck green smoothie that sort of “wakes me up” from the winter. I want something, light, alkaline and perky. Here’s the one I’m loving now:
Spring in Your Step Green Smoothie:
- 4-5 lacinto kale leaves (destemmed)
- Juice from 1/4 to 1/2 lemon (I like 1/2 but I’m a lemon FAN)
- 1/2 banana
- handful of cilantro
- handful of parsley
- 1/2-1 cup water
- 3-4 ice cubes (I don’t like smoothies too cold and they digest better when they are not very cold)
Blend it up and drink it slowly! I think of this as a first thing in the morning kind of a “starter” drink, not a meal replacement. For that I recommend a high protein Clean & Lean smoothie, which you can find here.
