I started making pesto when I was in my 20’s and I thought I was quite glamourous and chic by knowing how to roll out a gorgeous pesto in a snap. I love the traditional version (pesto genovese), but since I’m generally a non-dairy gal, I wanted a version that had no Parmesan. I’m surprised actually that nutritional yeast makes a great stand in for the cheese and that using pistachios gives it a delicious twist on the pine nuts. Or you can just use the pine nuts. What-evah! Try it!
I LOVE COD- And I am always playing with ways to enhance the flavor of fresh fish without killin’ it with a bunch of what have you. This is my new favorite way to prepare fresh Alaskan Cod or Halibut:
My Peeps are always asking me if and why they need supplements. Ultimately YOU decide. I give you the best info I have and you make an educated choice. That My Paisanos is what empowered health is all about. So here I’m going to talk about Vitamin D with and you can decide how you would like to roll with the info. For me, I go mostly with food. Get my levels checked and supplement when they are low with a fabulous source I trust. So here’s some food for thought on D…
Hey Sugar Pie,
When I was younger, couple of years ago, I had this cute little habit of going to the grocery store and swooping up a glorious array of different candies from the candy bins. I’d just get 3 or 4 of this or that with a couple of dark chocolate malt balls as a chaser and call it a day. I did this maybe once a week or so, no harm done. Well, THOSE DAYS ARE OVER sistahs and bruthas! For some reason once I get my mitts on a little pure candy I go into some sort of crack head mode that takes some wild horses and super strong self dialog to STOP me from falling prey to my drug of choice. That’s why I call sugar- crack. Believe me, I know what sugar does to the bod pod. Holy Mother of Sweetness, I went to school and learned all about how sugar affects our insulin levels, our mitochondria…and all that jazz, but I’m also a huge advocate for all things in moderation. So I experiment with things to see what they feel like in my bod pod. Well, apparently sugar is not one I can handle or enjoy on a regular basis.
Let’s talk about the E WORD…
I know, I know, I’m always bringing it up. You know why? Because I know that once you let go of the E WORD excuses and get out and do something for a while, you will love it..why? because that is what we are made to do. Yes, we were designed to MOVE (you know it’s true). Why do you think little kids LOVE the playground? They don’t know it’s the E WORD, they just know it’s fun, and makes them feel good.
I love this soup on a cold winter night. If you like broccoli, you’ll love this light version soup.
